Thanks for raising these flags, Celeste. Based on the concerns you're raising, I'm revisiting my AI covenant in this week's post. Will be modifying and hope to publish next on Releasing Memory in a Part II. (Given the speed at which the technology is evolving and adapting, I choose to think of this as a living document, to be adjusted periodically)

If you can think of anything additional I should be considering based on your work and research in this area, I'm open to feedback.

I know this is just one person's contract with the machine, but I am hoping it might serve as a model for other conscious creators, storytellers, parents and teachers, and anyone hoping to engage AI in an ethical way. [N.B., I've named my AI "Esme" after the AI in my YA time travel adventure book series, Edge of Yesterday].

I think I am losing sleep now of unchecked AI!! And I survived 2 teenage daughters (who are now good global citizens, thank goodness). AI seems to be a challenge with little parental oversight!

I don’t like talking about problems when I don’t have the answers. It’s so complex and will not only take cooperation of tech and policy makers but agreements between countries to figure out how to proceed safely and in a way that will benefit more than harm.

Robin, Your AI Covenant will no doubt need to be a living doc considering the break neck advances of AI. It’s ambitious and very necessary. I am thrilled you reached out. I sometimes feel like I am an alarmist shouting into the wind. I have a deep respect for technology and embrace advancements, but cannot turn a blind eye to the very real safety risks.
